How do I setup a custom domain?

With a custom domain you can configure your domain to point to the widget that ZenLocator is hosting for you. As an example, you can configure http://locator.yourdomain.com to point to http://yg71ny868zem.zenlocator.com. If you would like to use your own domain name:

  1. On your dashboard, navigate to Widget > Hosting and click on the subdomain link to view your locator. That URL should look something like this: yg71ny868zem.zenlocator.com
  2. In your DNS provider's settings for your website, create a CNAME record and point it to your ZenLocator host (eg: yg71ny868zem.zenlocator.com)

Please note: If you are changing an existing DNS entry to direct customers to your locator, it may require significant lead time to make the switch based on your DNS TTL (Time to Live). To avoid delays in configuring your locator, we recommend reducing your existing TTL to 15 minutes at least 24 hours before you plan to switch over to minimize any delay. When you change the DNS entry to direct to the hosted locator you can return to your normal TTL.

  3. On your ZenLocator dashboard, go back to Widget > Hosting and fill out the Custom Domain field.
